I am always happiest when I’m not thinking about what’s running around in my head. What’s climbing up and down my to do list. So if I’m not feeling happy I know exactly the thing to snap out of it; I find someone who needs something I can give.
These are a few things I include in my photography experience to share what I love and to give back where I have been so richly blessed!
NILMDTS – I am part of this non-profit organization that provides professional photographs to families whose infants don’t get to come home from the hospital. It gives them something to hold on to and remember the little part of their lives that was only around for a little while. I can’t imagine what it would be like to go through that. The ladies who founded it, however, do know. This national effort came about because of a single experience. I was so touched that a willingness to not only accept a painful heartache, but to embrace and share it has turned into something so good.
Fundraising – I am happy to help you earn money for your group or cause. I have a program structured so that your clients get a great discount, you get your profit up front and only pay me the cost of the print. I provide the equipment, donate my time, and include incentives. Contact me for more details.
The Hard-Knocks Monthly:
This is a new program that came into my head and I am pleased to introduce it immediately! Life doesn’t always go the way we plan it, and when times get tough, all the extras get scratched off the family budget. My heart aches at the though of families NOT having portraits for who knows how long because of things beyond their control. Accident, injury, illness, unexpected loss of a loved one, divorce, unemployment, you name it, any of number of things such as these happen to our friends and neighbors all the time. If you’re like me, you wish you had zillions of dollars to swoop in and make every worry go away. But even if you’re not like me you probably can’t put things back into someone else’s budget, and even if you did, dollars don’t always fix things. I’m really not into “can’t,” so here is something that you and I CAN do. You nominate them. I shoot them. (With my camera, of course. . .) One family each month will be selected at random to receive a free portrait session package. The first will be announced May of 2011!
Here’s how it works:
-Nominations are done by posting comments, include a bit of story as to why you nominated them, but please be mindful of their privacy.
- You can nominate almost anyone, but please nominate someone other than yourself, (This is about doing what you can for others and it will come back to you tenfold.) Also, please be sure your nominee wants it, it’s no fun winning something you didn’t want.
- Nominees not selected one month are still included in “the draw” for consecutive months, so no need to duplicate a nomination.
-all decisions are final and chosen at random – I know this project is going to make me cry and I could never choose one as more “deserving” than another, so random-ness is the only fair way I can think of.
So, find someone who needs what you can give and let’s do what good we can!
